Stand out like a sore thumb

Hiring managers tell us they are looking for 'cultural fit' when recruiting - but there are some cultures you wouldn't want to fit with.

In a No-THING workplace, where change is constantly stymied and everyone has their heads down in business-as-always and the bottoms well and truly covered, it might be preferable to stick out like a sore thumb.

When no change is possible, employees start feeling disengaged. The entropy that exists in organisations with such limited vision brings with it a keen sense of frustration.

A spiral begins where you begin to lose your confidence, and eventually, you stop trying. And if you are unlucky or not careful, you will begin to fit right in. You start to demonstrate the learned helplessness and lack of autonomy that is the norm.

Trying to fit in with a toxic culture - ONE THING you might want to avoid.
