Movement Matters
Is there ONE THING you want to achieve, and despite all the crazy, the busy and the uncertainty, would like to find a way to get brilliant at it by, oh, say, Christmas.
We humans have a bias for right now and short-term, and that makes it tricky when we are trying to keep things moving slow and steady. So we need to watch for a few potential bumps in the road if we want to master something.
First up, take some time to muse on what you want to want to do. [Oh! I'm not going to tell you what the ONE THING you need to do is. That's what relatives are for.]
Don't wait to feel motivated. Find your motivation. Why does this matter? And get started. Like now! Now is usually the best time to start. And taking action fuels your enthusiasm.
You will need a few ways to keep your momentum. I like to get a buddy, have some solid milestones to track and create a few rewards.
Maintain the small advances you make. Dig those changes in deep by repetition and refinement. That way, they become part of who you are, not just what you do. Then build on them.
By the end of the year, you will have it mastered. And it will feel like magic. By working on small incremental steps, you will get you there. Just keep moving forward.
And if you are looking to DIY a goal this year, check out my first book, "iDevelop; how to take charge of your professional development by becoming a conscious learner". Message me for a special offer available until Valentine's Day.
