What lies beneath
Do you remember walking by the shore and watching the sun reflecting so strongly on the water, it hurts your eyes?
I have such a strong memory of this as I walked along the beachfront on the Sunshine Coast a couple of years ago. It is ONE THING I am looking to do again soon - but I will take better sunglasses.
While the shining lights are hypnotic, best not to forget, there is a lot going on underneath the surface.
We can be dazzled by the surface reflection when addressing an issue, coming up with a solution, or making a decision.
But to get to what lies beneath, and not be hypnotised by what's shiny, I like to ask:
- What are the beliefs we hold about this matter and how are they serving us?
- What are the structures that are keeping our less useful beliefs in place? Or supporting us well?
- What agency do we have? Do we feel capable and confident, and have the freedom to take action and make things happen?
Rather than jumping to a nearby solution, check in with your beliefs, the supports you have in place, and your ability to take action.
Get below the shiny and enjoy the richness to be found in the deep.
