Expired Aphorism

ONE THING I have been noticing lately in a few conversations was that some of our aphorisms were just not true or as useful any longer.

One colleague was telling me that something was as 'safe as houses' but considering the recent and frequent natural disasters we have been experiencing in Australia, that really had to be called into question.

My faith was restored a little when a friend was telling me about how her interstate flights had been changed a few times before her trip. She found it frustrating, but rather practically she commented that, "You just have to expect that planes are a up in the air at the moment".
