All The Award Show Buzz Right Here

The red carpet is rolled out. The VIP ropes and security folks in tuxes are keeping the public and the press at bay. They are pressing forward, awaiting the arrival of the stretch limo. It pulls up to the curb, and the driver steps out to open the door. You glide out looking glamorous and happy. It's your night. You are there to receive the award that always meant so much to you. You feel amazing!

But hang on. I don't need any Oscar or Nobel Prize or Darwin Award.

Well, maybe not. But what if you could make up your own award for the thing you would most like to be celebrated for? And create your own ceremony!

What would you call the award you most want to win? Would you name it after someone you admire for qualities you tried to emulate? Or would you call it something whacky just because you can? Like Awardie McWardface or a Bruce.

How would you go about designing the trophy or statue or whatever you would want to memorialise this immense achievement? What is your ceremony like? Go crazy and spare no expense or limit the guest list. Do it exactly your way. And don't forget the after party.

Settle back and imagine.

But don't forget the significance of the award. What is it that you are awarding? What is it that says success to you? Something that makes you feel you have really gone above and beyond here, done something significant, truly worthwhile.

It's great to have that clarity about what really matters, and now you know what it is, what are you doing to get to that red carpet? What's in the way?

Maybe you don't have the resources you'd need to create your dream award night, but don't deprive yourself of the idea.

If you are like a lot of people, you need the practice when it comes to celebrating success. And once you get good at doing that with the big things and a full flourish ceremony, try it with more minor things. Find what's worth celebrating in your life, do it really well, then do celebrating it well - even if only in your mind.

You know one person can make a difference and everybody should try.

Perhaps, in time, you can become an event planner for someone who needs to get the buzz from their own awards night.

Now, where is my Dior frock, sequin runners and that tiara, darhling? The limo is arriving in ten.

And, by the way - Congratulations
