Strange Smorgasbord

A wee while ago, I was at a conference, and we had dinner at the hotel buffet. And it had been a wee while since I had been to a buffet, so I had to reacquaint myself with my protocols.

Peruse the field. Get a sense of what's on offer. And then plan your first sortie.

But as I was thinking through the entree, I went "stuff the protocol" and put my favourite things on my plate. I looked at my choices, and they made me smile.

A whole range of interesting food that bore no resemblance to anything I had seen on a menu anywhere or like anything I'd prepared at home. But it was just what I wanted.

The diversity of foods coming together perfectly made me think about how brilliant a strange mix can be.

So mix it up.

Yeah, that's probably an analogy.
