I am in AWE

I've heard that of all the spectacles in the world, the Grand Canyon never disappoints. You can pretty much be guaranteed to experience a sense of awe and wonder at this majestic natural wonder.

I feel a sense of awe - an overwhelming sensation of admiration - when I talk to someone who loves, feels supported and is challenged in their work; where leaders are proactively focused on creating an environment that provides organisational clarity and encourages employee growth; where teams work to achieve success and help their colleagues be better every day.

Now I hear the naysayers - the word awesome is overused and devalued. Awe is not something that you should expect in an everyday experience like a workplace. But I am happy with a sliver of this powerful sentiment.

What makes an amazing work environment that fills you with awe and makes you say "Awww"?

For me, it's about being focused on doing what truly matters, having a degree of autonomy about how that happens and being respected for my contribution. It's not always comfortable, but it's worthwhile.

How do you start to create and awesome workplace for yourself and those you work with?
