Potential for purpose
Post the pandemic, people are questioning the purpose and experience of work in their life. Gallup's State of the Global Workplace 2023 reports that 51% of people globally are watching or actively seeking new job.
Like many sectors, the Not-For-Profit's are looking to recruit and retain more staff. And the current rethinking about the place of work in our lives can be a great attraction strategy with people seeking more meaning and purpose in their work.
That doesn't mean other things don't need to be in place, like adequate pay. But in the same Gallup report, 85% of people who were not engaged outlined a few key things that would make the workplace better. 41% of responses were to do with engagement and culture. Things like being recognised for contributions, approachable managers, greater autonomy, learning, respect, fairness in promotions, clear goals and support. And these don't cost you money.
A good culture and a purpose led organisation is going to be looking pretty good right now.
