An escape goat

I was more than a little surprised to witness a work colleague pointing their finger at someone the other day and say, "Sounds like something you'd do, NameWithheld".

In the chaotic circus that is our work life, we all need to resist the temptation to toss colleagues under the bus like confetti. Being slow to point fingers isn't just about avoiding a blame game; it's about embracing the comedy of errors that is the human experience at work.

Luckily, NameWithheld is very grounded and took it all in their stride, helping the pointing person see the funny side but still causing them a moment or two of uncomfortable reflection, commenting, "Way to find a handy escape goat". And that mispronunciation had everyone in stitches.

We're all starring in our own workplace sitcom, complete with plot twists and quirky characters. From time to time, people will get on your goat or be a bit giddy. So, instead of appointing a scapegoat director, enjoy the sitcom together. After all, laughter is good for workplace woes, and blaming others is like trying to fix a computer by yelling at it—it rarely works, and everyone just ends up feeling a bit ridiculous.
