Here’s one we prepared earlier.

“So … what have you been up to lately?”

“Oh, nothing”.

Are you tired of your friends having nothing to share with you because they see their lives as mundane? Do you feel you have nothing extraordinary to tell others about what’s happening with you?

Then you need my new book, Best Day Ever: A Diary of Your Strange, Curious and Exciting Life.

Okay, that’s just a working title.

But let me tell you how I came to put it on my list of books to be written (as there are a couple in process ahead of this one).

Last week, I went home to visit my 93-year-old mother in my hometown. She is very well but worries about forgetting things.

She has a diary out on the kitchen bench, with one section for appointments, social engagements, birthdays, anniversaries and other such things.

On the opposite page, there is some room for notes. For a few years, she has been writing a line or two about what happened that day.

Cleaned the front windows.

Morning tea with sisters here.

Gayle arrived from Melbourne.

Went to the Pokies and won $20.

You get the idea.

While I was there, I noticed that she was a bit behind in recording events, so I decided to help her out.

Lynda has been moving things again to make me think I am going crazy. (That’s my sister - tee hee!)

Aliens landed and took over the earth. It’s quite pleasant here now. They solved war and poverty in less than four hours. Remarkable.

I’ve been packing because tomorrow, Raul and I are taking off for the Caribbean to spend the girls' inheritance.

Every Monday for the next couple of months (until I get back there), she has a new adventure awaiting her and hopefully making her smile.

So, having created this exciting adventure for Mum, I thought it could be helpful for other people who have difficulty coming up with experiences to share. And the Best Day Ever diary was born.

I wonder what things you would like to see in it?
