The Carousel

Ever had one of those conversations where things just seem to keep going round and round? Shifting from one perspective to the next and back again. Have a couple of friends and colleagues who do the carousel all the time? If you try to hop on the carousel, you can find yourself caught up in movement that goes nowhere. We usually end up where we started, a bit more tired and dizzy.

But if you hop off the carousel, you can watch the lights, the beautifully ornamented horses, carriages and animals, hear the music and enjoy the reactions of those on the ride. This place of observation allows you to notice when the ride is about to end, and as people start to slow down, you can usefully add to the conversation during the dismount when something akin to an outcome is near.

It can be quite relaxing to observe and you get to keep your head straight and ready for other communication rides.
