Time to crack on and crack up

Yucking it up with egg-filled conversation the other day when planning for a project.

A little concerned with where to start, someone innocently said we needed to crack on.

Especially if we didn't want to have egg on our face and not get it done.

But would it be a tough egg to crack?

Or the goose that lays the golden egg?

And while we don't want to put all of our eggs in one basket, this could be one egg short of an omelette.

Well, we can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs.

But then we would be walking on eggshells.

But we still needed to put some ideas in and the last one in is a rotten egg.

Not wanting to tell people how to suck eggs, but I think you are over egging the conversation.

Someone started to say they were egg-cited at the prospect - but it was ruled inadmissible as it wasn't an idiom.

Hmmm ... luckily laughter is good for creativity.
