So close you can almost taste it

I don't know about you, but I am hanging out for the summer and a bit of a break. There are so many things I am looking forward to doing over Christmas and the New Year.

I know that it's close once I have completed my favourite pre-Christmas activity. While it's not everyone's cup of tea, I do have quite a few people who love my Christmas cakes. So this weekend I baked fifteen of them, all chock-full of fruit and alcohol and nuts ... lots of nuts (and a bit more alcohol).

It's a bit exhausting, but it is a tradition now. I use my faux Aunties recipe that I has been amended to my own over a couple of decades. I love the smell in the house that day, and licking the leftover mix after the oven door is closed and the baking begins and before the cleaning and preparing for the next batch starts.

I set aside the whole day and use it all. I focus on doing ONE THING and doing it deep. And the results of doing ONE THING deep are always richly satisfying, like my cakes.

If you do Christmas, do you have a ONE THING that is yours and you do each year?
