Don't walk the self talk

I had a relative who told me that she would start things but never see them through. She would start yoga, sports, different crafts, groups ... but she would soon get bored and quit. She didn't carry through with her commitments. Except she stayed married to a guy that was ... an arse. The one thing it might have made sense not to carry on with, she somehow managed.

Being accountable and demonstrating integrity means we need to walk our talk.

Absolutely.

But thinking of my relative reminded me that we need to think carefully about what we commit to. And considering how there is so much happening at such a fast pace, not overcommitting.

I know that there have been times when I have been quite committed to my self talk - especially when it's negative. But that is not the sort of talk that we need to stick with. Being accountable means something quite different in this instance - like committing to interrogating and/or ignoring these harmful voices.

What are you committing to for the holiday season? And what are you telling yourself about that? Worth a check.
