Do we need heroes?

It's an 80s diva showdown. While Bonnie Tyler is convinced of our need to hold out for a hero, Tina Turner is convinced that we don't need another one. What do you think?

There are lots of ways to think about heroism. Someone who acts courageously or nobly. Someone who has special qualities and abilities that make them a role model.

It's also the main character in a story and a type of sandwich - but let's not worry about those for now.

We often hear people on the telly interviewed after having acted courageously say, "I've just done what everyone would have done. I'm no hero." But I think that we compare ourselves to Superman and other comic book heroes.

But shouldn't we always want to act courageously and nobly and be a role model for what we value and believe.

Don't wait to be saved. Don't deny the need. Be your own hero - coz it's just what everyone would do.
