Yep, there are quite a lot of tongue expressions out there.

Hold your tongue.

Bite your tongue.

Cat got your tongue.

And while we talk a lot about the need to be able to speak up at work, there are times when we need to be a little discrete, reserved and thoughtful.

Managing what you say, when and how you say it matters.

Hold your tongue if you are about to be unkind. There are always ways to get your message across without being deliberately hurtful.

Bite your tongue if that information is not yours to share. Be discrete about sensitive matters at work or about things people have told you in confidence.

And while I am a bit ambivalent about gossiping (sometimes it can be a way to figure stuff out that's happening), there are definitely times when you might need to give your tongue to the cat for safekeeping so you maintain your trustworthiness.
