Second Guessing
Are you always second-guessing yourself? And which end of the time continuum do you tend to sit?
[Okay, just go with the metaphor here if you disagree with my depiction of the nature of time]
You can indulge in second-guessing by thinking about something that happened in the past. You are critical of what occurred and re-evaluate it with the benefit of hindsight so that it might turn out differently - and presumably better.
And it can be used to predict some outcome in the future when we attempt to anticipate the result of an upcoming event.
There are helpful and unhelpful ways to do second-guessing. One is where you look back and shoulda, coulda, woulda becomes punishingly negative rather than something to learn from or seek to remedy.
Or maybe you are simply giving thought to possible options and checking your thinking about something you want to do soon. As opposed to living in doubt in order to justify procrastination and not taking action.
ONE THING to avoid is third and fourth-guessing. Then have a conversation with someone to help you clarify what to do. Learn and let go? Choose and take action?
Spend enough time here in the present to make sense of the past and the future - but don't stay stuck.
