How much effort?

If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well. But some things aren't worth doing at all, and some things just require minimal effort.

When I am judging how much effort to put in for the outcome I want, I use the "Arse-scale".

Now the "Arse-scale" isn't about doing a botched job. I am not looking to arse-it-up - just apply the appropriate effort.

Can't-be-arsed: This is the appropriate degree of effort for things that aren't worth doing at all. It's not essential and any time I spend here is not going to have an impact. [Beware of using this as an avoidance technique]

Half-arsed: Yeah, I need to do this, but it just needs to be good enough [maybe barely]. Not something I want to spend a lot of time on.

Arsed: This needs doing to a good standard, so it's worth putting in the effort.

Kick-arse: This matters. It will have a big impact, and it really needs significant time and attention. I want this to shine, so I am ready willing and able to go above and beyond.

And if I have a clear expectation about the appropriate degree of effort I need, then I will be less likely to arse around and waste time.

Identifying the degree of effort required on the ONE THING I am doing means I can use my time and energy well.
