Stress and Old Ways of Working

According to a Future Forum survey, Executive stress is causing counterproductive outcomes for businesses and their people.

The survey reports that Executive satisfaction (-15%), work-life balance (-20%) and work-related stress and anxiety (+40%) have worsened while other employee scores are stable or showing slight increases. Concerned about culture and productivity this increased stress is seeing Executives reverting to older ways of working - wanting their workforce physically around them.

This is despite evidence that workers with full flexibility are more productive (+29%) and better able to focus (+53%). And remote and hybrid workers feel company culture has improved over the last two years (+52%) compared to those who are onsite every day. Yet, Executives believe the opposite - that team culture is negatively impacted by not being in the office.

What do you make of this disparity?
